Lieutenant Junior Grade Scott Patrick Stephen
The Early Spark
Born on December 19, 1974, in the heart of Cajun country—Thibodaux, Louisiana—Scott Patrick Stephen was a bright light from the very beginning. A gifted child with an insatiable curiosity, he didn’t just look at the world; he wanted to understand its underlying mechanics. While other children played, Scott’s mind was often drawn to the precise, logical worlds of science and the burgeoning field of computers. He was a son, a brother to Brett and Glenn, and a young man whose sharp intellect was matched only by the gentleness of his spirit.
A Life of Service and Discipline
Scott’s path was one of discipline and dedication. He channeled his brilliance into service for his country, earning his commission as a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) in the United States Navy. His military career took him to Virginia Beach, a center of naval aviation, where his technical acumen and leadership were vital assets to the fleet.
But Scott was more than his rank. He was a man of physical and spiritual endurance. An avid marathon runner, he found solace in the rhythm of the pavement, pushing his body with the same rigor he applied to his mind. His faith was his anchor; as an active member of Water’s Edge Church, he lived his values openly.
Providence and Mentorship
It was within the warmth of his family circle that Scott’s legacy truly rippled outward. He was not just a relative to Ainsley Becnel; he was a beloved older cousin with a kind soul who took the time to share his passions.
In a moment that can only be described as providence, Scott sat down with his younger cousin and pulled back the curtain on the digital world. He patiently taught Ainsley how to operate Microsoft's MS-DOS, transforming a screen of blinking cursors and command lines into a playground of possibility. That act of kindness sparked a fire in Ainsley’s mind—a fascination with Computer Science that would grow into a career and eventually lead to the founding of Zinx Technologies.

He is survived by his wife, Mariana, his brothers, and a family who remembers him not just for his service to the nation, but for the quiet, providential moments where his kindness changed the course of their lives.
